Remote support with owner approval: how it works — illustrated guide
THE SHORT VERSION

A support request is not permission to do everything. Make the purpose, approval and end of the session clear.

STEP 01

Set the boundaries first

Use remote access only with the device owner’s informed permission. Agree on who is helping, what they need to see and what actions are allowed. A request to connect is not a reason to share a password.

STEP 02

Keep sensitive information out of view

Close banking apps, private chats and documents that are unrelated to the issue. Pause sharing when personal information needs to be entered. Do not grant access in response to an unexpected caller.

Keep the owner in control

Agree on the task, explain changes before making them and end sharing when the work is done.

STEP 03

Finish deliberately

End the support session and confirm sharing has stopped. Review any debugging permissions enabled for local work and revoke trust for a computer you no longer use.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Start with one small task.

Download CaIoT RemoteViewer for the local Android toolkit, or book a demo to walk through the remote service that fits your situation. Check device compatibility and the current plan details before you begin.
