Remote desktop versus remote Android support — illustrated guide
THE SHORT VERSION

A Windows computer and an Android phone need different remote services. Match the service to the device being helped.

STEP 01

Choose the Windows service

Remote Desktop Access is the service for helping with a Windows computer. Confirm which computer needs help and agree on the task before requesting an owner-approved connection.

STEP 02

Prepare a focused workspace

Close private documents and unrelated apps. Ask the owner to stay available for approvals and to enter any credentials themselves. Avoid changing security settings just to make a session easier.

Keep the owner in control

Agree on the task, explain changes before making them and end sharing when the work is done.

STEP 03

Confirm normal use is restored

Test the original problem with the owner. Explain any changes, save their work and end the remote session when support is complete.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Start with one small task.

Download CaIoT RemoteViewer for the local Android toolkit, or book a demo to walk through the remote service that fits your situation. Check device compatibility and the current plan details before you begin.
